<image:caption>Indisputably the all American knife brand, Buck needed to capitalize on its rich heritage in knife making since 1902. Mint evolved their core brand identity and established a new color palette building on classic American values important to the Buck consumer. I created graphics for Buck's trade show booth and a brand brochure to launch the new look. I also explored packaging concepts for their knife products. <image:caption>Scott Willis went to Mexico to find the perfect tequila and returned to Austin with Tequila 512. While at the Butler Bros, I redesigned the Tequila 512 label to capture the spirit of hand-painted signs in Mexico and the attitude of Austin. The volcano with the agave plant exploding from it was an "a-ha" moment inspired by the local volcanic spring water used to make the Tequila. To launch the new brand the Butler Bros team came up with the idea of creating limited set of 512 boxes of tequila and sent them to influencers around Austin. I had the opportunity to design the box which was custom screen printed and signed by the founder. <image:caption>When the owner of the company has the logo tattooed on his back, there is bound to be intense scrutiny with every step in the evolution. I helped redraw the Honu logo for Maui Brewing and added a new bold wordmark to complement the identity. For packaging I proposed created a design system celebrating the culture and location of the brewery in Maui, Hawaii. I worked closely with Polynesian tattoo artist Orly Locquiao to develop the illustrations adorning each can. <image:caption>Working with the team at the Butler Bros I helped creat a social media event to celebrate college-bound High School seniors. Collegiance is a contest where students can hashtag their own college announcement video in instagram for a chance to win scholarships. In a DIY visual style, I created a Collegiance wordmark and the web site that aggregated social media posts tagged with #collegiance. <image:caption>The holidays tend to be a frenetic time. Each year at the Butler Bros. we focused on creating a gift that would help take the edge off, encourage some fun and relaxation, and demonstrate our appreciation to our collaborators and clients. For three years I had the opportunity to design the holiday gift — a Tranquilo tequila gift set, a Cheerquila tequila bottle package, and set of illustrated letterpressed cards. <image:caption>A leader in all things fly fishing, Redington decided to reposition their brand to appeal to both the core fly fishing market as well as outdoor enthusiasts. I redesigned all of their packaging using a combination of corrugate and white paper board material giving the brand a new rugged appearance. A new brand system was established and applied to all brand materials. I also worked with the Mint team to design seasonal t-shirts, patterns for apparel, a trade show booth, and ads for fly fishing specific publications. <image:caption>Experiencing the success of growth and expansion, Tacodeli realized their branding was holding them back. While working at the Butler Bros in Austin, Texas I updated their old logo and redrew all the letterforms, preserving the quirkiness of their original wordmark while modernizing it and improving its legibility and scalability. We introduced new patterning inspired Mexican ceramic tiles as well as an entire new brand system of typography, icons, and color. The new system was applied across all customer interactions such as packaging, environmental graphics, signage, and collateral.
